Sigur Rós gave a dozen filmmakers a small budget and carte blanche to create videos for their upcoming album “valtari.” Ramin Bahrani’s rendition of “Ég anda” features soulful animals interspersed with some decidedly human-made structures and it’s just as affecting as you might expect. Sigur Rós has announced an upcoming project titled “Mystery Film Experiment,” which is a collection of music videos for the album, Valtari (available now via EMI/XL Recordings). Each video made by different filmmakers. “Fjögur Píanó” was written & directed by Alma Har’el and stars Shia LaBeouf and Denna Thomsen.
I think of going to the grave without having a psychedelic experience like going to the grave without ever having sex. It means that you never figured out what it is all about. The mystery is in the body and the way the body works itself into nature.
Listen to and download Cat Power/Chan Marshall’s infectious single “Ruin,” taken from her long-awaited ninth studio album Sun (and her first album of original material since 2006’s The Greatest) is set to drop September 4 on Matador Records. Marshall played everything on the album and produced the whole thing herself.
